Thanks for joining us!
Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

AIR is new! AIR is on a mission! AIR is trying to make a difference in the lives of immigrants and in the lives of its volunteers.
Advocates for Immigrant Rights (AIR), a Charlotte-based grassroots organization, formally began in February, 2019. It held its first general membership meeting March 22, 2019. We are a group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to working toward a fair and just treatment of immigrants in our nation’s immigration courts.
Through its initiatives, trainings, events, and public reporting, AIR seeks to educate and inform the public about real immigration issues, as well as seek solutions to identified problems in the Immigration Court System.
In addition, AIR seeks to maintain strategic partnerships with advocacy, policy and community groups to inform decisions and push for change.
Our volunteers act as citizen observers in Charlotte Immigration Court as a part of the Court Observer Program. They explore ways to improve the court process in Charlotte with the Status Docket idea. Currently AIR is also working to seek funding to re-establish the Pro Bono Room at Charlotte Immigration Court so immigrants have representation in court.
We are an active group and we hope you will join us and become active in our efforts toward a fair and just treatment of immigrants in our nation’s immigration courts.
